First Outing to DC

I think the highlight of the trip for the kids was riding the metro.
The Washington Monument is closed right now but can't wait until we can go up to the top of it!
This is the WW II Monument.  It is beautiful and on a nice day like Sunday there are a lot of people hanging out there.
The highlight of the trip for Andy & I was as we were leaving the WW II Monument. We heard sirens and I saw a police bike coming. We were waiting on the curb for the time to cross the street. I actually thought "Are they after someone right here in the middle of the monument mall?" Then I realized there were two more behind him... and three police cars... It finally hit me that they weren't after someone, they were before someone - the President! Sure enough, here came two armored cars and three jet black SUV'S; all followed by a few more police cars and bikes. It was thrilling! What an experience for the kids on their first trip to Washington DC (even if they don't really get it.)   :)
