I have caught the inspiration to start playing around with Amia's hair! Our social worker told me about a blog an adoptive mom has. This mom is a white woman who has twin girls from Ethiopia and she has done extensive research and practiced a lot with their hair. I am really enjoying the blog and have learned so much!
So the first picture is yesterday, my maiden voyage. There are a total of five 'puffs' (white girls call these pig-tales), one on top and four in the back - if that makes sense. The beauty of really curly black hair is that it holds the style and doesn't need to be washed more than once per week. I had intended to keep this style all week until she threw wood chips up in the air yesterday afternoon and they all landed on her head. So today, after reading more on this wonderful blog, I attempted another style. The rope twist on top is something I have always admired in little girls hair. Her hair is longer than I thought when I stretch it out but still not really long enough to do a good rope twist. Anyway, I am experimenting and having fun!
