"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Luke 12:34
Everyday at exactly 1630 on Travis AFB (and probably every other military base around the world) the loud speakers blast 'Retreat' immediately followed by the national anthem - many of you have experienced this. The proper protocol for this time is to stand, face the music and place your right hand on your heart. It is an ongoing battle teaching 5 year olds, 4 year olds and 3 year olds to stand up - stand still- stop talking - and cover your heart. Today I was doing some gardening outside and the music began. I gathered all the children to my side and reminded them of protocol. AJ, who had been carrying the same three rocks around all afternoon, turned around and said "MOM, these rocks ARE my heart so I will place my right hand on them." I was instantly reminded of the scripture at the beginning of this post.
